KU systems.

A Ku Dish installation is the more common way to go. KU Satellite Transmissions are used generally by local pay tv companies because they are more powerfull and only require a small and simple dish to recieve them.

Becasuse KU bands only require a small simple dish to recieve they are cheaper to install normaly around $400 for the complete installation.

C BAND systems

C band transmissions are a wide beam transmission. The benifit of this type of transmission is that the transmission coverage is done over a very large area for example Asia SAT 3 has a coverage area from South Africa Europe, Indonesia, Australia and the south pacific right across as far as Fiji.

The Disadvantage of this kind of transmission is that the signal is much weaker and requires a much larger collector (dish) . The minimum recomended dish size is 1.8 metre but the most popular size is 2.4 metre or greater.
